Keyla is committed to uplifting her community, zealous advocacy, and client-centered representation. She has dedicated her legal career to speaking on behalf of the most vulnerable people in society as she utilizes her free time to help her community prosper. As General Counsel for the South Miami Chapter of the NAACP, Keyla dedicated her time and legal expertise to assist the non-profit organization in numerous areas. Keyla advised the NAACP on the legal implications of the organization’s programs, drafted contracts and waivers, assisted with voter suppression issues, and helped secure legal representation for NAACP members. Her commitment to helping people also lead her to join the Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association, whose mission is to cultivate excellence and inclusion, promote diversity in legal education, and advocate for equal access, equal opportunity, and equal justice in the legal system. Keyla serves as Treasurer.
Keyla’s commitment to community is what makes her an exceptional attorney. As an eight-year attorney, Keyla has been awarded numerous times for her zealous advocacy and client commitment. Keyla began her legal career as a Public Defender in Miami-Dade County where she tried over 30 cases, ranging from misdemeanors to life felonies. Her strong advocacy skills and intellectual dexterity earned her the respect of her colleagues, opposing counsel, and sitting judges. In 2017, Keyla was awarded the inaugural Bennett H. Brummer Gideon’s Hope Award for her superb case preparation, litigation, client representation, advocacy, and professionalism. The Gideon’s Hope Award is awarded to “the most talented and dedicated Miami-Dade Assistant Public Defenders.” In 2019, Keyla earned the James J. Miller Scholar Award for her client-centered advocacy and dedication as a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Miami Chapter.

Her skills easily transferred to the civil sector of the law, as she successfully argued a Daubert motion in the first two weeks at the firm. Her trial skills earned her a chair on three civil cases and the utmost respect from her colleagues and Partners. Keyla now serves as the Senior Litigation Attorney at Fischer Redavid, PLLC.
